Ellen Galinsky’s Mind in the Making presents some of the most important and groundbreaking research about brain development and how learning builds on the structure and function of the brain. These discoveries about how children learn are molded into seven simple but profound skills that predict success in the twenty first century; (1) focus and self-control; (2) perspective talking; (3) communicating; (4) making connections; (5) critical thinking; (6) taking on challenges; and (7) self-directed, engaged learning.
This introductory session will introduce participants to these seven essential life skills. We’ll learn why they are important to children and adults, how they develop and how we can promote the use of these Life Skills in children.
